The counselling for admissions into medical colleges in the state will commence on July 22.
NTR University of Health Sciences has finalized the counselling schedule for MBBS, BDS and other graduate courses within 45 days of the announcement of Eamcet results. According to the notification issued by the university,
Counselling will be held in Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam simultaneously from July 22.
Counselling will be held up to 500 ranks on day one and from 501 to 1,000 on day two. Counselling for the rankers between 5,000 and 8,000 will be held on the last day (July 25) for unreserved categories. However, counselling will continue from July 25 to 29 for reserved categories. While the university filled up about 5,700 seats last year, it is expected that more than 6,800 seats will be available for the current academic year as the Medical Council of India (MCI) has granted additional seats in almost all medical colleges in the state. In addition to increasing the intake in existing colleges, the MCI has also granted permission for three new colleges, including a government college in Nizamabad which would have an intake of 100 students. Two new private colleges - Malla Reddy Medical College for Women and Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences - will have 150 seats each.
Nearly 70,000 students cleared the Eamcet medical stream.
